Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Insurance

Missouri Vein Cares commitment to you: We will help you obtain insurance approval or, if you do not have an insurance plan, we will work with you to obtain the best solution to allow you to receive treatment.
We are committed to communicating with you to answer your insurance questions and assist in the process.

Q. Will my insurance cover the procedures?

A. Most insurance will cover the vein procedures less any co-pay, deductibles and/or co-insurance that apply. Before treatment, we will verify coverage with your insurance company.

Q. What will I have to pay?

A. This will depend on your plan, but you will have to pay your co-pays, deductibles and/or co-insurance that apply. We can give you an estimate on an individual basis before treatment.

Q. What treatments are required by insurance prior to your vein procedure?

A. Most insurance companies require that you try the following conservative treatments prior to approving treatment for your vein conditions. Insurance companies require us to provide documentation of this.
- Mild Exercise
- Avoiding prolonged immobility
- Periodic leg elevation
- Compression Stocking Trial
- Over-the-counter pain medications

Q. How long does my insurance require for the compression stocking trial?

A. Each insurance plan is different, but most require a 6 week to 6 month trial. Insurance approval cannot be obtained until all the insurance requirements are met and are documented by us.

Q. How long does it take to obtain insurance approval?

A. An average of 30-45 business days is common. Insurance approvals have occurred considerably more rapidly with phone calls from the patient to the insurance company.

Q. How much is my co-pay, deductible or co-insurance?

A. These answers can be found in your policy handbook, by talking to your human resources department or by calling your insurance company directly. There is a phone number on your insurance card you can call to help you find out answers to these questions, and we will be happy to assist you.

Q. Are ultrasounds covered?

A. Most insurance companies will cover outpatient diagnostic ultrasounds. When you schedule your ultrasound we will verify coverage with your insurance. Your deductible, co-pay and/or co-insurance will apply.

Q. When is my payment expected?

A. To allow us to provide the highest level of care, we expect payment at the time of each service. This includes the patient payable portion of procedures to our best estimation. A final patient responsibility adjustment will be determined after insurance processes the claim.

Q. What are my options if not covered by my insurance policy?

A. There are a couple of options for patients paying out-of-pocket for their vein procedures. We offer a discount for self paying patients or financing through Care Credit. Please contact our office for more specifics regarding these options.
